As a mama, one of the things I’m most looking forward to about the holidays is watching my two-year-old partake in the joy that is Christmas Eve & Christmas morning. The gift I’m most anticipating? My husband taking almost 2 weeks off from work! I love our Saturday mornings together as a family and to think that I’ll get to have almost 2 weeks of Saturdays makes my heart very happy. What else could I girl ask for? Oh that’s right…STUFF. I really wanted a flash for my camera so I could better capture Christmas morning memories and I wanted some practice with it before that morning, so….Merry early Christmas to me!
Once my husband is home this weekend, I’m going to test out the flash in the morning light of our living room so I have a good idea of how it’ll work. As I’ve mentioned, we moved a couple of months ago and, though our new house has more natural light coming in, it’s still indoors and I know a flash will be very helpful to have. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Despite my strong urge to always buy the super adorable gift wrap around town, I don’t need to buy any new Christmas wrapping paper or bows this year. I am, however, almost all the way through my grammy’s old gift tags and am ready for something new. We just had some family pictures taken by my friend Tim, so I thought I needed to take advantage of these current pictures (considering my kiddos seem to change so quickly). I wanted to make custom photo gift tags but didn’t want to spend forever with my old scrapbook supplies, taping and gluing various Christmas doodad’s to rectangle construction paper. The idea of getting glue and glitter out with a 2-year-old running around makes me want to pee my pants a little bit (though my children are constantly peeing their pants, so I’d fit right in). Anywho, to avoid the spread of this fairy dust and Elmer’s glue throughout my house, I hollered at my friend’s at Wolfe’s.
This is the thing about Wolfe’s. By their photo & home decor area, there’s a big sign that says, “If you can imagine it, Wolfe’s can do it,” and they totally mean it. Wolfe’s graphic designers have helped me with projects in the past, but this time I wanted to play around on picmonkey.com. I used one of our family pictures plus some simple tools on picmonkey and, voila! Ready to print gift tags.
If designing your own gift tags sounds like a pain in your rump, have no fear! Conveniently, Wolfe’s has some really cute templates for gift tags here. Happy wrapping!
Every year, I have the hardest time choosing which template to use for our Christmas cards. There are some stinkin’ cute options out there. These are some of my favorites, available at Wolfe’s. I’m waiting for some professional family shots to come in the mail and that’ll help me decide which layout is the best. PLUS, we just moved a couple months ago, so I think I’ll do a “Merry Christmas and Oh, We’ve Moved” card. Two birds, one stone! I like the accordion layouts but I think the two-sided flat cards on my favorite.
Which one is your favorite??
Here’s my next question for you: Do you do anything fun with all the cards you get in the mail? The last couple of years we’ve strung them up in a door frame with little clothes pins but I was sort of looking for a fresh idea! Any thoughts?
